It was only about 150 miles, so it was an 8 (maybe less) hour
journey, from Durban up to Richards Bay,
The main attraction of this port is the nearby Hluhluwe Umfolozi (say that a few times in a row real fast!) game reserve. It is actually the first proclaimed game park in Africa. Initially, its' establishment was partially an effort to protect the endangered white rhino. Now the white rhino is flourishing and the black rhino is in danger of extinction. So the black rhino is also found here and is protected in this park, too. In addition, HU (it's as difficult to type, as it is to say) is one of the African game parks that sports all of the "big five" - the elephant, rhino, cape (water) buffalo, lion and leopard. The southern part of the park, where we were, is rolling grasslands and forests.
