Lisbon, Portugal

Ooooooooooh NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

This is the last segment of Africa 2008. <wipes tears from eyes>

We arrived at Lisbon, Portugal, sailing up the River Tagus, around noon the next day.

It was a yuccky, dreary, rainy day, but nothing can cast a shadow on the magnificence of Lisbon's riverbank and its monuments (which date back to the 1500s) commemorating Portugal's "age of discovery".

The first monument on the Lisbon side, in the section of Belem, is the Belem Tower, built in the early 16th century to help defend the riverside entrance to Lisbon.
